Jim O’Rourke - Mizu No Nai Umi (1990-2005)
I was pleasantly surprised to learn that not only does Jim O’Rourke make great music but he also makes great art. Mizu is a 40 minute projection of an airplane in an eternal, slow motion take off with music from his organ drone album, Mizu No Nai Umi (1990). As part of an exhibition called ‘White Noise’.

With this exhibition, artists “broke the sound barrier” and inaugurated an ongoing, year-round series presenting sound art and new experimental music composition as part of the gallery’s programming.Goldberg, 2005
